Stat's for 8 weeks on the road and just driving around

Location: Chenango State Park; New York

It's been eight weeks since I hit the road and since today was a slow exploration day, I thought a few statistics would be neat:

8         --  Weeks traveling
56       --  Days traveling
4,990  --  Total miles traveled (towing and exploring)
2,600  --  Miles towing
2,390  --  Miles exploring
477     --  Gallons of gasoline used
10.5    --  Average miles per gallon (towing and exploring)
9         --  Number of states in which I've camped
19       --  Number of campgrounds in which I've stayed
140     --  Average miles between campgrounds
3         --  Average days stayed in each campground

I'm satisfied with the numbers. Moving every 3 days may be a surprise to some people, but 3 days is a good number. That gives you 2 full days to explore the area. Unless there is a lot to see, that is enough time. I will be looking for a nice place to stay put for about a week just to let everything get caught up. Moving around so much gets a little confusing at times. I wake up and have to consciously think about where I am and the day of the week. My sense of direction, which has never failed me in the past, is having a hard time keeping up with things. I'll try to find a stopping spot in one of the next states, since I'm very ready to leave New York. I have two more things on my list to see in New York which are all near the next campground. Tomorrow will be moving day. I'll be going to Susquehanna Trail Campground and Music Park in Oneonta, New York. It will also be a mail drop since Brandon sent my mail this week.

The campground I'm in now, was more or less a lay-over campground with nothing high on my list to explore. I drove

Countryside around Chenango Forks
Different view, same countryside
around today and got a few pictures of the area so you can see what the countryside looks like. I also crossed a bridge

Grid Deck. That's water down below.
with an Open  Grid deck that gave me the heebie-jeebies (if you're young, ask an older person what that is). I didn't like it at all. The grid made Freedoms tires act funny. Traffic was light across the bridge so I slowed down and held out my camera to take a picture of the grid. I used my cheap point and shoot in case I dropped it. The picture doesn't convey the feeling of the open grid but it was the best I could do.

I'll end with a couple of pictures of the grandbabies.

Ya'll take care of each other. Cya down the road.

  1. If one of your next states is WV I know the perfect spot. Twin Hollow Campgrounds. On top of mountain, quite and peaceful and you just might run into some really great people there that would cook you a great homemade meal.

  3. What kind of vehicle are you using to tow your trailer? Looks like a ford, but wasn't sure of the model?

    1. It's a 2014 Ford F-250 Lariat with the 6.2 L gasoline engine. Although the diesel would give more power, I went with the gas engine because gas if more available than diesel. Plus if I need a mechanic in a small town, the chances of finding a gas mechanic is better than finding a diesel mechanic.
      Thanks for your comment.
